BRAD POWELL, B.A.Sc. ( Hon ), Owner / General Manager
Brad graduated from the University of B.C. in 1987 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in the field of bio-resource engineering. He has more than 10 years experience with commercial silviculture nursery operations in both our facilities. In 1994 Brad was appointed Nursery Manager of our Red Deer Operation and General Manager of the Okanagan and Red Deer Operations in 1999.
MARK MACK, B.S.F., R.P.F., Forester / Sales Manager
Mark is a graduate of the University of B.C. in Forest Resources Management, and has worked in government, industrial and commercial forestry since 1977. He is available to provide field consulting services for you whenever you may need them. Mark guides our staff in understanding your specific technical needs, monitors the quality of our support services and conducts regular field visits to each of our clients. Mark is also our primary front line sales person. If you need a quote for seedling production, Mark is the person to ask for.
JORGE AVILA, Grower
Jorge heads our Crop Management Team which is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of all crop management activities. He began working in the commercial nursery and fruit tree orchard businesses in 1973, and since 1981 has developed his career in the commercial production of forest tree seedlings. Jorge is the person to speak to when you want to know the intimate cultural details of your seedling orders.
DARCY MCELVENY, Operations Manager
Darcy is a newer member of our K&C Management Team, coming to us in March, 2011. He has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry Degree & has worked in the seedling nursery business since 2000 in New Brunswick, Ontario, Nevada & B.C.
ROOPINDER GOERTZEN, B.A., Production Supervisor
Roopinder has been a part of our Nursery Production Team since 1994. She supervises all nursery production activities from seed sowing to seedling harvesting and packaging, and is responsible for training and supervising our production crews. Roopinder also manages her own fruit tree orchard.
DAVID PHILLIPS, RFT, Cold Storage Manager / Shipper
David is the newest member of our K&C Management Team, coming to us in November 2013. During the shipping season you may be in frequent contact with David, as he arranges packing and shipping schedules. Over the winter, David manages our cold storage facilities, tending to those seedlings that have been placed into cold storage for spring shipping and planting.
ANGELINA RESENDES, Lab and Quality Services
Angelina provides all of the in-house laboratory services needed to produce high quality seedlings, from monitoring the quality of the components of the media to evaluating the growth capacity of seedlings coming out of cold storage. She ensures that the seedlings are developing as they should throughout the growing season, and remain healthy while in cold storage.
ILEAN DAWSON, Financial Administrator
Ilean has been with the company since 1984 and looks after all aspects of our accounting and payroll systems. Ilean's expertise in the field of accounting keeps us organized and knowledgeable about the costs of growing seedlings.
CHANGMING WANG, B.S.Ag., M.S.Ag., M.B.A., IT Manager
Changming has an MBA from Saint Mary's University in Halifax. He also has a Master's degree in agriculture from China, where he worked in agricultural research and computer information systems for 9 years. He has been with K&C as our Systems Administrator and IT Manager since July 2000. Changming is responsible for our computer systems and the development of our database/information management systems and our web site.
